The Role
The Spring Week was a great opportunity to learn more about the investment bank and get to meet like minded individuals. If I was to make a slight criticism, it was very presentation heavy.
I found that the staff were attentive and helpful. Other insight students in my team also contributed to a great experience.
We weren't individually given any guidance as such, however the organisers were very supportive throughout.
We were given a schedule on day 1 and the days were constructively filled with activities in the evening.
As this was just the Insights week, there wasn't any responsibility specifically given, however we did do some team exercises which involved taking responsibility.
It did what it says on the tin in essence as it gave me an "Insight" into the core operations of UBS. It's more than what I knew beforehand so I can confidently say that I've come away with acquired knowledge.
The Company
The staff were very enthusiastic and friendly providing a welcoming atmosphere for the delegates.
As the week was heavily timetabled, this was followed throughout and in my opinion well executed.
The firm provided all expenses and also prizes for winning teams. My team was one of the winning ones which was a nice experience! Also various senior staff took time ouit of their schedule to speak to us and give their personal experiences in an informal environment.
Company Parties/Events
UBS aim to convert a high percentage of the students on the Spring Week. This is done by means of being fast-tracked to the assessment centre and interview stage.
The Culture
Relatively interesting crowd provided some memorable moments.
The area was expensive due to being in the heart of London.
Unfortunately I didn't have the chance to sample to nightlife there due to the busy schedules each day.
As this was the Insights week, we were not present long enough to take part in any activities.
