The Role
The internship was really enjoyable because of two main factors. Firstly, I found that in Audit no two days are exactly the same and the work that I was doing was really diverse. I also made some really good friends in my department which really made my time an enjoyable experience.
I felt that I had a million silly questions and people there seemed very genuine and understanding. Many took the time to explain to me in simple non-condescending language.
For the duration of the internship we were provided with a mentor who was our first point of contact had we any issues. We went for coffee regularly to catch up with what I have been doing.
I was not too busy but I was definitely busy. With audit there wasn't any strict 9 to 5, however, on clients where they closed their offices slightly earlier, the audit team usually followed.
I wasn't given as much responsibility as I would have liked, however, I gathered that with experience comes further responsibility.
I learnt integral Microsoft Excel skills which previously went as far as making a bar chart and table. I am sure this will put me in good stead for the future, if I remember them!
The Company
Most of the time was spent at the clients, but I did occasionally come back to the office for training and various socials. The atmosphere from what I saw was great and definitely seems like somewhere I can see my future.
This was well organised by HR and it consisted a good mixture of training, audit work and social activities.
The company invested in our initial training as well as provision for our equipment (laptops etc). They also provided a number of social activities for all the interns which were thoroughly enjoyable.
Subsidised Canteen
Company Parties/Events
From the internship I was offered a graduate position. A lot of my friends also attained a position.
The Culture
The other students were very sociable as all wanted to make the most out of their experience.
Working and living in Central London does not come cheap but it's an experience.
The nightlife where we were was fantastic. I will definitely be making more regular trips down to London!!!
Yes there were plenty! I participated in the badminton club but there were also a range of other sports such as football and rugby which I steered well clear of!
