The Role
The internship was a challenging few weeks but I learnt so much! I was really grateful for the opportunity to learn so much about working in Finance at an investment bank.
Most people were generally very busy and I didn't get to speak to too many seniors. However, I really got on well with the graduate analysts whom supported me throughout.
My line manager was very efficient and helped me to settle into the department quickly!
This varied considerably. I would often finish tasks quicker than anticipated and as seniors were usually pretty busy it would often take them some time to get back to me and give me more work.
I was given a good level of responsibility and clear deadlines which I appreciated greatly.
I learnt more about finance and accounting which was really beneficial given that I study and unrelated degree.
The Company
The office had a good atmosphere and definitely not as intense as some of the other areas within the bank. There were a handful of other graduates on the floor and we were all involved in the same group exercises.
Aside from the lack of work at some times, everything was very well run. I was satisfied with the experience.
The company treated the interns to various socials as well as the introductory training sessions. These were really beneficial and provided an overview to the industry and the terminology (which was very detailed!)

Company Parties/Events
Future prospects depends on the need of the business, however, they seem to be converting the majority of the interns to a graduate position.
The Culture
Students often met up after work especially on Thursdays. There was a good group of us from the same department.
Some of the places we went to were relatively expensive but there are some inexpensive places too if you look hard enough!
The nightlife is one of the best around. We got to go to some really nice places over the course of the internship.
There were opportunities but due to the late hours and also the work we were given in groups this minimised the time we had available for other activities.
