The Role
This was an enjoyable day which enabled me to understand what it is like to work at Ernst & Young. I also learnt more about my strengths and was challenged by means of a case study.
All the participants were friendly and like-minded which made the day enjoyable.
The facilitators ensured that everyone fully understood the task before starting the timer. I also found them to be very approachable.
The day was very structured and packed with activities. We were given sufficient times for breaks which helped to break up the day.
I assumed the role of the team leader in a number of activities so I aimed to demonstrate responsibility by coordinating the conversation of the group.
I have learnt more about my weaknesses which were pointed out in a feedback session by a strength spotter. This will benefit me in my degree where I also partake in group tasks.
The Company
The office was very welcoming. Even the security guards welcomed us into the building!
The day ran according to a strict schedule which meant we finished promptly.
The company provided us with presentations from senior members of staff and also the facilitators were also volunteers from different departments.
The insight day is a step in the right direction towards an internship or in my case an industrial placement.
The Culture
We didn't really get to speak to one another too much apart from during activities.
I am aware that London is very expensive. However, I was unable to verify this because we were only there for one day!
Unfortunately, we did not have time to experience this but I have heard that London has one of the best nightlifes in the UK.
I can't really rate E&Y low on this because it was a one day placement. One of the questions I did ask the facilitators though was whether there were any activities one could participate in. I was told that there was a recent pool tournament which usually attracts modest numbers.
