The Role
I didn't know what to expect before taking part in the Talent Academy but from start to finish it has been one of the best experiences of my life. I really enjoyed the diversity of the tasks that we were given and also how it felt like an extension of university in Easter!
I got to meet most of the students also taking part in the course. It was great because the majority of them studied completely different degrees and it was great to find out why everyone was drawn into accountancy!!!
The supervisors over the 3 days were fantastic. They were always willing to answer all my questions no matter how silly and I did have a few of those!
We were very busy but this wasn't necessarily a bad thing! I enjoyed how the days were structured with a mixture between presentations and group tasks.
I wasn't given any responsibility but I don't feel that it would be possible to give much responsibility at all during the talent academy. Firstly because it was only for 3 days and secondly we weren't even employees of PwC.
I noticed that after the placement my presentation skills improved. I was no longer shy when going to give presentations at university! I also felt that I was also more aware of some of my strengths.
The Company
We weren't in the office but at a designated training facility and it had a great atmosphere. The grounds were beautiful and I loved how we could just stroll downstairs into the meeting rooms.
Everything seemed to go smoothly and to schedule, which we were given on our very first day.
The company paid for each of us during our time on the academy and I cannot thank them enough. It was a great gesture and I personally believe that I was a good investment!
Company Parties/Events
Future prospects look good as they aim to convert a high percentage of talent academy students onto the internship.
The Culture
The social scene was great when we had the chance to network. We even had the opportunity to sit down with the directors over dinner!
The place where we stayed was just outside of London. I can imagine that the cost of living would be slightly less than living in London itself.
Unfortunately we never got the chance to experience the nightlife as our evenings were already tailored to include the talent academy's activities.
There were no activities apart from the social events in the evening during the talent academy.
