The Role
My internship at Capco was an incredibly enjoyable experience that exceeded what I had hoped to achieve during a summer internship. The work and responsibilities I was given kept me challenged and allowed me to experience what day to day life as an associate would be like.
While many companies claim they have a flat structure, Capco really does! Everyone is approachable and friendly (you can even message people internally if you're looking for help). Capco also has a really tightly knit associate community (called the Associate Talent Programme or ATP) of which the interns are a part of. As such, I was invited to attended several associate community events even before starting my internship. The majority of the work I was doing was related to client deliverables and, as I progressed in the internship, I was given more and more responsibility. This definitely made me feel like a valued member of the project team and the company.
As I mentioned previously, Capco has a really flat structure. Everyone is approachable if you need any assistance or guidance with your work. However, as an intern, I was given a lot of responsibility and given work to completely independently, only receiving guidance when I asked for it.
I was never bored during my internship. In fact, if I ever had any downtime (which would be rare), I picked up work from an internal project or worked on my contribution project. To prevent myself working unusually long hours, I had to find a balance in what I could take on to meet all my various deadlines.
As I was working on client deliverables (and was actually on client site), I was given a lot of responsibility in the work I was performing. The work I was doing was at associate level and because of this I really didn't feel like (or was even treated as) an intern during my time at Capco. This is definitely what makes the programme unique and has really prepared me for work after graduation.
The first week of the programme was a condensed version of Capco's usual training programme that is given to associates when they join the company. I completed tutorials in Excel and other key Office tools as well as project management, etc. In my role at Capco, I extensively developed my Excel skills and have significantly utilised these since returning to university for my final year.
The Company
The atmosphere in the Capco office is really friendly and everyone is approachable. While working on client site, there is a strong team atmosphere.
The internship was quite well organised in all aspects from our training to our client/ contribution work and social events. This was actually the first time Capco had run the internship programme.
I think Capco invests in its interns in a similar way that they invest in associates when they join the company.

Having experienced first-hand what life as an associate would be like really made work at Capco appeal to me and I was invited to interview with a partner, after completing my internship, for a place on the associate programme (the ATP).
The Culture
Initially, we were on 2 different client sites but we still found time to meet up on a regular basis and we would sometimes met up with other associates and people on our projects after work.
Having studied in central London for over 2 years, I'm used to the costs but it's probably worth mentioning that they are expectedly higher than elsewhere.
It's in the centre of the City of London so it's great!
Being part of the associate community meant that we were regularly invited to events and activities outside of work.
