The Role
I enjoyed the experience of working in an office environment, and the variety of work I was given.
In being given quite a lot of responsibility, I felt the work I was doing really contributed to the company, and to my team, so I felt like a valuable team member during my time there.
My manager has been invaluable during my time with the company. She gave me lots of room to work independently, and tried to give me projects she thought I would find particularly interesting. I feel she really took an interest in me, and helped me to think a lot about my career and future after the internship. I was able to go to her with any problems, and she always had the time to talk to me about both work and my personal life.
Some days I would be busier than others, but I was given a steady flow of projects, and it was up to me to manage them in the way I thought best. Often there was no set deadline for a project to be finished, so I had to balance my workload to make sure I got everything done.
I was given my own projects, some of which I worked on independently, and some with other members of my team. I was given the opportunity to communicate with external clients, and with colleagues from all over the world on plenty of high visibility projects, so I felt I was given plenty of responsibility.
I was able to use software that was new to me, and undertake tasks that I might not have experienced outside the intership. For example, editing films and advertising material and using Google Analytics are skills that I will take away from this job.
The Company
Most people I came across in the office were really friendly.
The application process and joining the company was made very easy.
I didn't attend any formal training sessions as I was only with the company for a short period.
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
Company Parties/Events
Working from home
I would consider applying for a job with the compnay in the future.
The Culture
Because my internship was not during the summer months there were no other placement students working at the company.
Fairly average, although I would need to travel to central London for a lot of entertainment or social events, which can get more expensive.
I chose to live close to work, so was living in a fairly quiet village, as the office is based in an industrial park, there is not much going on close to work. However, train links into central London are excellent.
The company has a sports and social events committee, so there are opportunities to do activities outside work.
