The Role
I thoroughly enjoyed my placement as it was fast paced and exciting. The office I worked in had a great culture too which I think definitely made a difference
At the end of my placement in Warrington, I was surprised to get quite choked up and upset to be leaving a team behind who I had really enjoyed working with. They bought me gifts which I didn't expect but showed that I had meant a lot to the team as well
The management were always approachable and offered me help and guidance when required as well as working the other way!
At peak times on the contract, I was kept extremely busy and sometimes (by choice) worked late. With a small operation I would also help others if I had little to be getting on with.
By the end of the placement I had built up an array of tasks that I had to complete for higher managers reports. A lot of responsibility was instilled in me to get the information gathered accurately and on time
Although the placement was not directly related to my course, I found that a lot of skills and theory was applicable
The Company
Even in stressful times, the atmosphere was excellent. Everyone was down to earth and a good sense of humour was essential
A lot of my placement was developed while I was there, there wasn't much of a set structure, but I think this was because I was the first undergraduate with the 2 contracts that I worked on
There were several training residentials set up for the undergraduates and these focussed on team building and communication skills. on the job, there was not too much invested in to me, though I learnt a lot on the job
Company Parties/Events
I was offered one day a week to work with the company while I was back at uni, and there is a graduate development programme with them too
The Culture
The team were generally older than me, though I did get on well with the rest of the team and we did have some staff nights out
Warrington was relatively cheap place to live, commuting from manchester or liverpool is an option too
Warrington wasn't so great, but it was 20 minutes to manchester or liverpool
No activities
