The Role
I really enjoyed the internship because it gave me a good idea of what it would be like to work in a top investment bank. I also felt I was able to put what I learnt in my degree into action by working in finance.
From time to time, people were very busy but on the whole, there was a really supportive culture which I relished. This helped me to feel valued in all aspects of my job.
We were given a training counsellor from day one and also were given contact details of some of the graduates. They were very insightful as they openly told us about all their experiences.
I was extremely busy during the internship. Although finance is back office, I often left the office around 8-9pm. However, the late hours were worth it given the "work hard, play hard" culture in the city. I would often meet up with the other interns in my department after work.
This was more or less what I expected in terms of responsibility. I had a lot of oversight but did not feel micromanaged in any way.
I learnt a lot about the culture, the industry and what I need going forward for a career in an investment bank so I would say I learnt a great deal!
The Company
The atmosphere was relatively pleasant in my department. I was not aware of any issues whilst I was there and I enjoyed the company of the other interns whom were also based on my floor.
This was seamless, from the initial acceptance to the feedback reviews for the internship everything was well organised.
The firm paid for our initial training at the start of the internship. In addition, the firm often provided various networking opportunities for us. I feel that the firm heavily invested in our participation while we were there.

Company Parties/Events
These are great as I converted my internship into a grad scheme. I could not be happier!
The Culture
We were all like minded and mixed well socially. Everyone was a good laugh and there were many memorable occasions!
To be fair London is not the most inexpensive place to work. However, this is the price you pay for working in the City!
The nightlife was fantastic. The late finishes meant that we were out sampling the nightlife during peak times which was great. There was honestly such a good atmosphere.
I did not really come across many activities apart from the occasional pub quiz. The interns tended to sort out their own socials in any case.
