The Role
The placement was very structured which provided a great balance between department work, application advice and socialising.
The department was quite busy and everyone who gave me work seemed to really appreciate the help.
I had a very attentive supervisor who was keen to involve me with a wide range of interesting work.
Although I didn't do that much desk work, I had things to do pretty much all the time.
About as much as I'd expect for a non-law intern.
The experiences gained will undoubtedly prove to be useful for my legal studies and working life thereafter.
The Company
Quite a few people had already left for Christmas, but all the doors were open and everyone who was around was very sociable.
As a non-law participant, I enjoyed the structure of the placement which was designed to gain a sense of the firm's culture and practice areas as much as day-to-day work.
The placement was only three days which meant that this was not really a possibility.
Subsidised Canteen
The Culture
The firm organised dinner and drinks events that all the placement students attended.
Expensive - it's the City after all!
Some nice bars below CityPoint.
Once again, for a three day placement opportunities were limited.
