The Role
My placement was overall a great experience; however I did find that the Nuclear industry is not what I am primarily interested in. This is only my personal opinion on what I find exiting in terms of a career.
Everyone on site, even those I don’t know are friendly, willing to help and create a pleasant atmosphere.
I was very lucky with my position to be working under a great professional who remained close to me throughout my placement.
There where several areas that I took up key roles and had opportunities to show my potential. It was exiting to produce work that had real effets.
The Company
Office work is generaly more dull than a highly interactive environment such as a cafe or kitchen as I have worked in before. But everyone was freindly and aproachable.
There were some issues with HR management but this was made up for by thoes working closest to me.
There was no long term training oreintated around corporate issues but I know this is focused on in the graduate scheme. I did however receive plenty of training that helped me carry out my day to day activities.
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
Company Parties/Events
I feel that EDF's recruitment process is very fair and intensive with a personal feel. I am quite confident that my new conections will give me a good chance at returning to the graduate scheme.
The Culture
I have lived in acomodation with up to 9 other graduate/undergraduates. Its a great opertunity at a social life and shairing eachothers experiances.
Quite good. I am on a flexible contract with my land lords which is very beneficial.
Rural summerset doesnt produce great nightlife. But its not too far to travel to Bristol or Cardiff at weekends.
I have joined a Gym and there is a neer by golf club but again there arnt the opertunities you would find in a city.
