The Role
Brilliant, great variety of task - processing orders, manage a B2B system, assist with projects, reporting, dealing with suppliers
Not seen as "a student" but as part of the purchasing team
Very supportive, tried to give me opportunites wherever possible
Due to the variety of tasks always kept myself busy, taught me the important skills of managing my time and workload
As I went through my placement I was given more and more responsibility
Have allowed me to decide that purchasing is the right career path for me and will help greatly in my final year project/discertation as I can involve Prysmian in it.
The Company
Plently of people to talk to, all very friendly and helpful.
Very well organised. There is a detailed schedule for the handover period which lasts about 4 weeks and there are regular review meetings with a "mentor" who is a previous student that has returned to work for Prysmian.
I went on a couple of courses and was offered others, I was always given opportunites to sit in on meetings or understand different areas of the department/business.
Flexi Time
National Travel
Company Parties/Events
Above 25 days holiday
I have been fortunate enough to continue working part time whilst finishing my course and have also been offered a full-time role when I finish University.
The Culture
All students would get together every lunchtime and would sometimes go for pub lunches. Various social events also orgainsed throughout the year.
I personally lived at home but I understand the cost is fairly standard
Lots of pubs and clubs to visit.
There were a couple of football teams but other than this nothing I was aware of.
