The Role
The placement has been both a struggle and enjoyable
I felt like I was a summer placement student rather than a more permanent member of staff, and didn't feel particularly valued as I didn't have a specific role to fulfill other than helping out
i was given day to day guidance and information on the company and power plant operated. I don't feel like I have been given any career guidance so far which would have been a bonus
During the outage season there was plenty to see and do, and I was often rushed. Outside of the outage, I feel like I haven't had quit enought to do to fill my time
Insight into the industry, life skills, experienc and anti-experience will be very valuable to me in the future
The Company
Organised to start with when I was getting set-up. Not so organised when shuffling me around projects/departments when work became thin
Some extra training given which has been useful but could have been more. Or at least more advice on future opportunities perhaps
Flexi Time
Above 25 days holiday
Very appealing - There are many avenues open to explore
The Culture
No fellow placement students in my department but friendly when I did meet them. Office staff again friendly, but no outside of work friendships made
Cost of living fine, social scene not very lively / existent
