The Role
I had a great time and learned a lot: valuable experience
The people I sat with in the office (obviously could vary for everyone) were genuinely nice people, shared quite a few jokes with them and made me feel part of the team
Both my managers made sure I was getting the best experience possible, and feedback was useful too: can be daunting wondering what everyone thinks of you or how you are getting along
This varied a lot, some days were really interesting and exciting: client meetings, broker meetings, client surveys etc, and then some days were spent in the office getting through administrative tasks. I'd say don't prepare to be entertained 24/7 but don't be afraid to ask for work if needed.
Allocated work to be completed
For my degree I found it very useful (again obviously this might vary for everyone), i'd say business/finance/law style degrees would definitely benefit
The Company
Was placed on quite a young team so a lot of jokes going around and a fun atmosphere
I would say it is well set up but experiences might depend on where you are placed
Went on broker meets, client meets, lunches, surveys, so had a really good experience and felt as if a lot was being put in to make sure I got the most out of my time on the placement.
Sports and Social Club
National Travel
Company Parties/Events
Managed to get a grad offer which I am very pleased about
The Culture
Managed to have a night out in London which was fun (but as everyone has to travel from their offices can be hard for everyone to make it)
Found a cheap place to stay, prices are reasonable really
One or two clubs but mostly pubs and bars
