The Role
I enjoy coming to work every day! I can't express enough how much I have enjoyed my time working for Discovery and working with my team, the year is going far too quick!
I feel that I am a valued team member.
I sit next to my boss and we chat every day, if I have a query she is always willing to help.
Obviously some days are busier than others but there is always something to do.
I have been given a lot of responsibility - I prepare the majority of clips for presentations and events, send a weekly update to the team, research potential talent, research content for programmes etc
I feel that the placement has been invaluable, the skills will definitly help me to get a job once my placement is over.
The Company
The atmosphere in my office is great, I really get on with everyone in my team.
What was great about my placement is that I got the opportunity to make it my own, my boss was very supportive in letting me create my own experience and working on tasks/programmes that I had an interest in.
I was able to work with other production companies on some of our productions, by the time my internship is over I should have worked with 2 production companies on 3 different programmes, its great to have additional industry experience working as a runner/researcher, I made new contacts and gained more credits.
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
Subsidised/Company Gym
Financial Bonus
Company Parties/Events
Healthcare from home
I could apply for other roles within the company but there is not a role available for me within my team, if I could continue working with them I would but I know the best thing for my career would be to move on and the team agree and are very helpful in aiding me to make the next step after Discovery by introducing me to other production teams.
The Culture
The interns occasionally meet for lunch or go out for drinks after work.
I am from the north and moving to London was quite a shock as its very expensive, my friends are renting flats and houses for less than I am paying for one room in a flat! Socialising is also more expensive with drinks and cinema tickets more expensive than my home prices.
There are plenty of bars and restaurants in Chiswick - but I don't go out much in the area.
Enjoy Work provides many activities from running club, guitar lessons and in the summer they had an event in the plaza every week.
