    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Management support was excellent. Plenty of opportunities to implement own ideas into the business and work to a style that suited you. Dedication and a passion for the job was key to any recruitment consultant's success.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • All colleagues offered amazing support and help as well as encouragement and praise when deserved.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Management were always there to help. Any questions or issues a consultant had would be answered, all you have to do is ask. Weekly training sessions and team meetings ensured that management was knowledgable on consultant's business plans and were able to spot when a consultant was steering in the wrong direction. Management were very nice but firm when they had to be.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Days were always very full and time passed very quickly. Days were planned out by the hour to ensure all work that needed to be done to move the business forward was completed and consultants had a clear focus and end goal. These day plans ensured that work didn't mount up to become too much - the month targets and plans were reduced into manageable chunks.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • Each sub-division of Construction & Property was viewed as it's own business in itself. It was up to the consultant to adopt a method of working that they were comfortable with but would still achieve the best results. There were still key K.P.I.s that needed to be met but the way these were met were up to the consultant. Every opportunity to implement your own ideas and style into the business but everyone had the same ficus and same end goal.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Skills learnt here were so varied from project management to recruitment, marketing, communication etc etc. Especially in project management and HR modules at university, these are now more interesting because I have a work experience that matches the words of lecturers and tutors. All skills will be easily transferred into any future role and definately gives mean advantage over other graduates applying for future roles.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Although I wouldn't describe the atmosphere as continually being "fun" but it certainly never stopped. There was always a buzz in the office and an element of excitement as each consultant strived to meet their targets and push their business forward.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • No problems at all. Was always busy. Was always given the opportunity to develop new skills and try new things out.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Regular on the job and off the job training sessions. Training courses were held around the country which I was able to attend as well as weekly group training sessions for the office. As well as one on one sessions if consultant requests them. Daily, weekly and monthly reviews as well as more formal 4 week, 12 week, 6 month and 12 month reviews.

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Financial Bonus

    Company Parties/Events

    2/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Have been employed to work one day a week whilst I am doing my final year ar university and will be able to go back to working full time once my degree is finished.

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • I was the only placement student in my office but there were regular work nights out and drinks after work.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Because I worked very long hours I didn't get to socialise so much during the week but on the weekends there were a lot of different places and things to do in the City Centre and suburb areas.

    2/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Variety of clubs and bars, all very busy and well priced.

    5/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Although there were opportunities to do things during the week I didn't take advantage of them so much as finished quite late and started very early so was often too lazy to do anything on an evening!
