About You
The two days included a good mix of interactive workshops, informative presentations, some work shadowing and a fun quiz on the first evening.
All the representatives I spoke to, whether they were trainees or partners, were enthusiastic about having us there.
There was generally lots of support throughout the insight, but I felt that the lawyers I shadowed could have engaged me more, though I understand they are quite busy.
In addition to the usual negotiation exercise, there was also a personal branding workshop which I found quite useful.
The Company
A schedule was given out on the first day, and it was well adhered to.
The scheme was a great opportunity to meet like-minded students from other universities and that made for a nice engaging atmosphere.
The entire scheme was useful in helping me better understand the work of a large international law firm. The business game and personal branding workshops were particularly good for personal development.
Speaking with trainees and shadowing them were quite helpful in this respect, but since the scheme was only two days long, I think I could only have gotten so much insight into how it would be like working full-time at Linklaters.
The presentation on the firm from 'A Partner's perspective' and work shadowing offered particularly good insights into the culture at Linklaters.
It strengthened my interest in working at a large international law firm.
Everything Else
There was a session specifically for networking as well as a lunch with trainees.
Other than the networking session, there were not many opportunities to network with lawyers. However, the quiz night was a great social event for networking with fellow Pathfinders.
We heard about pro bono opportunities, sports teams, and departmental activities such as skiing trips.
