The Role
EY provided a friendly, comfortable environment in which to work. The tasks provided were relevant and provided good insight into what the auditor's role entails.
Everybody I worked with was willing to help and I felt included as part of the team in all the jobs that I worked on.
The manager on each client provided assistance and useful advice where necessary, which was beneficial in terms of learning more about how certain procedures should be carried out.
I was kept busy on a regular basis. If the team I was working with on a given day had no work for me to perform, I would often be able to assist elsewhere.
Particularly while based on a client site, I was given responsibility over several sections of the audit work performed, signing off on a number of audit steps.
I feel that my organisational and timekeeping skills were significantly developed during my placement, both important attributes to take into future work. I also learned a lot of new technical information which could also prove useful in future jobs where that knowledge may need to be called on.
The Company
Whilst a number of people were regularly out of the office at client sites, those in the office were friendly and willing to help should I have any difficulties.
Good structure, interns pre-assigned to jobs over the 6 week period. Induction period useful in getting to know people, the firm, and industry sector prior to starting work during the placement.
Lot of time and resources invested in developing skills and learning potential.
National Travel
Good environment to work in, promising opportunities for progress within the firm. High level of exposure to industry sector.
The Culture
Organised some squash outside work, attracted a number of staff and was a good way of meeting new people.
