    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Enjoyable placement and a great insight into how a large engineering company operates.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Regular meetings with colleagues where I was encouraged to give my thoughts and opinions.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • The guidance given has been good and there were always plenty of people to ask if ever I had a question. However, I did struggle in the first couple of months because of the volume there is to understand.

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Fairly busy, if ever I did not have enough work I could have gone and spoken to another colleague for things to do.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • A lot of responsibility given, I was working, fairly independently on a project that was critical to my teams larger project.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Unfortunately due to the huge scope of engineering I have learnt a niche area in quite a lot of detail and as such this will probably not be that useful.

    3/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • I worked with a great team and got on very well with them.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Very well organised, I was introduced to my project from the first day and always had something else lined up after finishing a project.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • A lot of training courses accessible to me.

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Staff Sales/Staff Shop

    1/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • They run a very good graduate scheme with a much easier route on to it after completing a placement here.

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • A large number of undergraduates on placement here and regular team events lead to a good social scene.

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Average.

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Reasonably good, nothing special.

    3/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There was an employee learning scheme which contributed a £150 towards whatever activity you wanted (for example I used mine for a scuba diving course).

    5/5
