About You
Guidance was definitely available if you wanted it, and people were more than willing to share tips and advice.
In terms of my degree, even as a law student, the skills that I've picked up here do not really contribute. As to their impact upon the time beyond my studies, I have no doubt that they would be of great assistance.
The Company
Lots of talks organized from all the different departments as well as one by the CEO - gave great insight into what each area actually does as well as the direction of the firm. Exactly the kind of information you want, as it's the sort of thing we wouldn't be able to find online.
It depends on the department, but as a rule of thumb people were quite relaxed. While there's an understanding that you're there to work, interactions between people and their appreciation of a life outside work really speaks of the culture of the firm. The firm organised some great nights that allowed interns to interact and get to know the trainees as well as each other, which was fab.
The trainees didn't hestitate to advise us to enjoy our free time at uni, and that you definitely have to work hard once you start full time work. However, they did also stress that the firm appreciates that you have a life outside work, and the work-life balance is relatively good.
Gave a proper insight into the way the firm functions especially through the way people interact with each other.
Gave me an idea of which areas I may want to do a seat in, which was helpful.
Everything Else
There were events each day, whether they were talks given by departments or lunches organised with supervisors and trainees.
The first drinks night was a little bit awkward when we didn't know each other well, but by the time it was the last night with dinner and bowling, we'd all gotten to know each other as well as the trainees so it was really good fun.
Heard about social soccer, cricket etc
Definitely. Great insight to the firm, if you're interested in them you'll really benefit.
