About You
This was the Pathfinders Scheme and it really made me excited to apply for Linklaters for their vacation scheme. The in-depth look at the firm just really encouraged and motivated me to want to work there in the future!
They treated us very well and made us feel confident that we were chosen for a reason. They seemed genuine in this programme to help give us the best advantage as possible.
Everyone was very friendly and if there were any questions, they happily answered them.
There were some useful workshops, but the best was undoubtedly the micro-shadowing. I just would have liked to have a longer time for that.
The Company
Everything was well set-up. There was no confusion as to where or what we were supposed to be doing. They had an agenda and stuck to it, and even though it was jam-packed, there were still appropriate times slotted in for small breaks.
The perfect mix of fantastic, friendly and professional.
For the two days of this programme, they still put a lot of effort into trying to develop and improve our skills.
They gave us a tour and plenty of opportunities to talk to other trainees, so you could ask them any and all questions relating to the firm and actually working there.
It really hit home that, though it may seem cliché, friendliness is an important factor. On a website and such it is just words, but being there, you really feel the supportive, upbeat and hardworking culture of the firm.
I was already set on working in a law firm in the future, but this experience really encouraged me to try to join a large firm culture such as Linklaters.
Everything Else
They also provided hotel accommodation and plenty of food (breakfast, lunch and dinner for the first day, breakfast and lunch for the second day with plenty of snacks in between.
Yes, there were plenty people to talk to, especially the second day where you are just in the hands of other trainees, and then they would introduce you to other trainees. The first day we were also able to talk to a partner of the firm and ask him any questions, as well as a number of associates.
As above, there were plenty of networking to be done. They also organised a long trivia social event which was relaxed and very fun.
Trainees had told of their experiences of socials and events that were held, as well as numerous sports groups within the firm that meet. There was also some mention of bowling to be held in the near future.
Definitely!
