About You
Exposure to a number of projects and an incredible number of fun, enthusiastic employees from different levels of the company. Socially stimulating and developed more skills than the first 3 years of University combined.
Outside of lots of meals and drinks, working practises made me feel equally involved - regularly given tasks and deadlines that had relevance and importance to projects. Sitting in on meetings with clients for me was the ultimate sign that Deloitte valued me.
As oppose to over guidance or over support I had a number of different contacts I could confidently speak to at any point in time. Deloitte encourages the independence that allows you to grow quickly but leaves you with a strong support network at the same time.
As previously stated - more skills were learned in 6 weeks at Deloitte than 3 years of University combined. Soft skills in particular, the ability to interact with professionals at different stages of their careers and getting insight into how a lot of different companies operate.
The Company
The programme was nicely divided into 3 separate projects so that I could get an idea of different work areas within the department. At the same time it wasn't overly structured, I was able to arrange work in certain areas I felt were more beneficial as the insight progressed. The SVS champions were more than happy to make this possible.
Incredibly fun place to work.
Given time with partners, managing directors, training courses and endless opportunities to network, meet up with employees, ask questions and learn.
The company for all intents and purposes treats you like one of their graduate students - total immersion into the company culture.
While every opportunity was given to understand the company culture, at times things may have been masked by a desire for the company to impress.
I'm very confident of what I'm looking for following this insight. Perhaps the greatest advantage of all.
Everything Else
The pay was very good alongside a lot of free food and drink and any expenses were reimbursed.
Endless.
There were 3-4 events a week to attend. All were well organised/attended and many were not internship specific giving a good insight into the workings of the company.
