The Role
Really varied and challenging. Learned a lot about the industry. The team gave me a lot of resposibility but also a lot of support.
My colleagues took the time to teach me how use different specialist applications, explain how specific areas of the business work as well as gave me career advise and guidance.
My career options were discussed with me on numerous occasions with a lot of advise and honest feedback concerning different areas of company business lines.
I always had something to do, so the work load was well-managed!
Quite a lot, for instance I was translating client documents, and on the basis of my translations, the team advised the client!
Great on-the-job training with the staff being very helpful. Only one skills-based half-day training session however.
The Company
Very friendly and relaxed. I got to know the whole team over the course of my internship. This was great to get your name out there and known.
Well organised without any issues. HR team was very helpful and tranferred my application according to their vacancies and my request.
Perhaps not direct investment, but the company did contribute a lot to my career development through helpful advice and discussions
Subsidised Canteen
Market leader with great reputation for supporting trainee actuaries through their qualification. They tend to offer people grad jobs following their placements.
The Culture
It was good, however it was a bit more difficult for me as I was the only intern in my team. But non the less if you wanted to get involved the co-workers were very friendly
Central london is expensive especially zone 1 and if you want to live by yourself. You should look online to find some flat mates and consider living a little out of central and doing a bit of a commute.
London has amazing night life but it is a little expensive so you cant be partying every night or every weekend.
There were several events and the team had organised leaving drinks for me, which was very nice of them.
