The Role
I found my placement to be enjoyable and
As Prospectsoft is a small company everyone rallies together. I found my colleagues to be a lovely set of people to work with who were each willing to provide you with help should you be unsure of how to tackle a particular issue or problem. At the same time there were many opportunities to put your own thoughts and ideas forward and people were willig to listen to what you had to say.
As said above support and guidance was provided as and when needed. Particularly during training we had been told no question was too silly to ask, this put myself and my fellow palcement students at ease knowing we could feel free to seek advice.
How busy you were varied on a day to day basis and in relation to what point of teh quarter you were in. Campaigns are usually run quarterly so the beginning and the end of each quarter tends to be the busiest with putting into action new inatives and preparing for the following quarter.
We were given quite a good amount of responsibility. If designated a particular task it was our responsibility to ensure it was completed on time and to the required standards. It was also up to us to seek help as and where needed if we were experiencing problems with what we had been given to do.
My role was quite varied in what I was expected to do and so I was able to develope a number of skills in particular my organisational skills and my confidence have grown. I have also benefitted from numerous months of writting and proof reading where it was important to pay attention to detail, I feel this will be very helpful in my final year.
The Company
The atmosphere in the office was always very good. Everyone gets on quite well and there is also a laugh and a joke to brighten up your day.
My work placement was quite well organised but has recently been adjusted for new placements to further improve the opportunities and benefits the placement provides.
Training was given in the first month and opportunities to seek further training were given following this if you felt you still needed help with using the software. The variation in my job helped me to develope numerous skills.
The fact that a number of placements have returned following their final year speaks for itself.
The Culture
The company as a whole would socialise at events such as the staff Christmas night out, the annual company BBQ and a recently instated bimonthly meal at our local Indian restuarant. Colleagues aslo took time to socialise at weekends on nights out in both High Wycombe and Oxford. Weekly football was also arranged when people were free.
Living costs are slightly expensive however you are close to London so it is to be expected. Living and socialising costs are not unreasonable its all dependent on where you choose to go.
People would usually venture to High Wycombe or Oxford. Oxford holds a more varied number of clubs and pubs but both provide a place for a decent night out.
Many took the opportunity to play football after work. Most people are open to trying a new activity if you make the suggestion. Both High Wycombe and Oxford provide numerous places for you to join activities such as salsa, swimming and tennis etc. Both places hold universities in this area so you may want to check out what may already be provided for students.
