About You
I felt that the insight was very group exercise heavy. This is good if you have not had any experience with group tasks but I felt that they could have elaborated further with the case study.
I was only there for 2 days so apart from the staff spending time with us, I was not made to feel valued in any other way.
We were able to contact HR as and when needed. They provided advice with regards to the next stage of the application process.
I guess it's fair to say that with the group exercises, my teamwork skills have been enhanced. My degree is unrelated to accountancy so there isn't really any scope for how it will improve my current work.
The Company
I thought that the days were well structured with adequate times for breaks.
The atmosphere was initially quite tense as people seemed to be "on their guard", which made it difficult to get to know one another. As the insight progressed, the atmosphere greatly improved.
The company spent time in coaching us in the form of debriefs after the exercises. I thought this was a really useful way of learning.
The focus was really on group exercises which I guess at the end of the day what audit at Deloitte will involve. So in this instance it did help me to understand what it would be like to have a full time job.
The people that I came across were all very friendly and took the time to explain things to us. To me, I am impressed with the people culture because of this.
It gave me a further understanding into working at a big 4 firm. At the end of the day I will still apply, so I guess it played some part in helping me to prioritise which firms I am most interested in.
Everything Else
I had my travel expenses reimbursed which is fantastic since I came from Bath!
There were a few informal activities during the day where we got to meet members of the firm including some graduate trainees.
There were not many social event opportunities as this was only the Spring Into Deloitte scheme.
I enquired about this and was told that there are various sports clubs which you can take part in. They stressed "if I have time!" however.
I would recommend it to someone who really wanted to improve their teamworking skills.
