The Role
I found the experience to be extremely rewarding. As with any job there were times when the work wasn't the most thrilling, but there was always a goal to work towards. Being at Cancer Research UK also means that whatever you are doing, you know it is making a positive difference!
My manager and colleagues were all extremely friendly and would often congratulate you on finished projects.
The support given to Interns was Fantastic. Every Intern was given a manager with weekly one to one sessions. We also had a very active Volunteering Executive who was in constant conact with us. There were also opportunities to have a mentor.
Due to the fact I was assigned two projects this would vary quite a lot. Some days would be non-stop whilst others less so. Having said this I never felt overwhelmed or bored so I think it was a good balance.
I am very happy with the amount of responsibilityy provided. I was one of three people implementing a cash collection which brought in over £200,000. An achievemnet I am very proud of!
This is an area wher Cancer Research UK does really well. There is a real emphasis on getting you to realise what skills you have demonstrated. This allows you to take these examples through to interviews or covering letters. There was also a C.V. and interview training day.
The Company
Really friendly people.
Really well organised.
There was a genuine focus on what I would get out of the internship.

There was an intake of 48 Interns, this means that most do not get a job at Cancer Research UK.
The Culture
Due to the high intake it was great. 48 Interns (age range 18-28).
