About You
A very useful insight in terms of finding out where your strengths and weaknesses are and how you can develop these and work them to your advantage. At the same time the Ernst & Young staff was very supportive and always happy to talk about Ernst & Young but also about other general career paths.
A very supportive and friendly staff and the participants were also very friendly and easy to get along with.
The staff was always happy to talk to you and your development beyond the program. Furthermore, everyone stayed in touch after the academy giving you the chance to develop a longer term relationship with the people and staff met at the academy and at the same time giving you the opportunity to ask questions you might have forgotten to ask at the academy.
The program is useful in finding out a bit more about yourself and your leadership ability yet due to the limited duration there is only so much it can give you in terms of long term development of skills. The academy works well to outline the weaknesses and strengths of you as a leader but for significant long term change, you have to work on your weaknesses beyond three day academy.
The Company
There was a clear structure that was followed throughout. This followed a very logical process and meant that you developed on your skills day by day, being given the chance to apply the things you have learned from previous days.
The food, the accommodation, the program, the facilitators and the leaders of the academy were all top-notch. The program was packed and you always had something to do. You felt valued and it is definitely an experience I would recommend to anyone whether or not your intentions are to join Ernst & Young in the future. That being said, the program definitely gives you an insight into the way Ernst & Young treats its employees and the development opportunities offered at this leading firm.
Every participant was very well catered for and you always had the opportunity to talk to staff, the academy leaders or anyone else present to further talk about your development and areas of growth. The facilities were amazing as were the academy leaders making you feel very valued overall.
The program was less about the firm and more about you which is very respectable and definitely shows something about the firm. The firm does not go to extreme measures to sell itself and it truly feels like a program for developing your strengths and weaknesses rather than trying to sell the firm to you. The lower rating is therefore a positive rather than a negative.
Very well due to the fact that you had a chance to talk to Ernst & Young staff over the course of three days but at the same time the way you were treated throughout the academy clearly demonstrated the firms culture.
The program does not offer much in terms of finding the right career path as it works to identify your strengths and weaknesses more but this is definitely not a weakness of the academy.
Everything Else
Unpaid but reasonable travel expenses were reimbursed and the value of the program was reward enough.
There was plenty of opportunity to network with staff over the course of the three days. The only downside was that the one night that we had partners come in to give a talk, they never made it to our table and got caught up in a conversation with a different table which was unfortunate. Despite this there was plenty of opportunities to network and talk to the staff that was present for the whole program.
Great! There was something to do every night and always a chance to get to talk to everyone. Without giving much away: you will never be bored!
There was not the opportunity to find out about what employees get involved in outside of work but if a person wanted to find this out they easily could by just asking the right questions. The program was not designed to sell the firm or to give an information overload of all the opportunities with the firm which in my view is a positive!
An overall amazing three days I would choose to repeat anytime. A word of advice is that the more you let yourself get out of your comfort zone, the more you will get out of the program. Don't be shy and take full advantage of everything that the program has to offer!
