The Role
Only have way through my placement - so a result based on so far
My team are great and all work well together and are understanding during busier times but yet work the hardest to help one another where possible.
My manager despite being so busy and considering he is so busy has been the most helpful i could have asked for. He's supportive and understanding in terms of work and work load itself with him always asking me first as to whether things are okay - so a proactive approach.
Some days are obviously busier than others with the last coupe of weeks towards the end of the month being hectic!
As i'm working with a customer i have been given the responsibility of the relationship between L'Oreal and them so that alone is a great responsibility to have been given
My degree is quite broad but skills from team and communication skills will be used throughout life in my career later on but skills regarding the job have been useful as well
The Company
atmosphere even during the busiest times is always light hearted and genuinely happy which makes days like a bad monday not that bad at all!
From the organisation of the recruitment process (as i applied for two jobs - not officially knowing which job i had been selected for until the very last stage (assessment day), only being informed the evening before that i had to be in Manchester at 9am the next morning (physically impossible due to trains so had to request them to delay the whole day by an hour or so), etc. Little things that just made you question the company as a whole as this was the first insight into it you were getting and it was disorganised & confusing which is a real shame. Also once I turned up i had to wait up to two weeks to receive my employee number to be able to then be set up on the systems so i could start learning and working without relying on others or simply being sat not being able to do much but read.
I am only a 6 month intern but still havent received any training on the products i work on or anything of the such which is shame but there are no vacancies on trainings and any vacancies are on a priority ranking so as an intern i miss out. There's been points where the training clearly would have helped in terms of my work so helpful and useful to have for new interns coming in.
Subsidised Canteen
Company Parties/Events
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
I'd love to work for L'Oreal..I've just got to find more and more ways to try and broadcast myself over others because of the shortage in offers available :) !
The Culture
The Bar 255 once a month seems to be the driver behind the socials but now we have set up an intern committee we are arranging socials for all interns on a regular basis so this will just improve and improve
the area itself is quite expensive especially as interns the majority of us are students living in london so paying london rates as it is so with work and the cost it is a bit more limited but opportunities like the bar 255 where it's all subsidised/free - can't be missed!
Unfortunately this is probably my fault but I haven't yet been able to go out much but when we do we normally tend to meet locally and then travel more centrally which is only normally 10/15on a tube so not that bad
There are only a couple work related like yoga but again with the intern committee there will be more - socially and sports based
