About You
It was a really good experience as we got to meet so many employees at Deloitte and got a free night stay at a hotel nearby. We also got to have dinner with some of the partners and employees at the firm thereby giving us a good insight into Deloitte. I must say even though it was only a 2 days event, it was jam packed with alot of activites.
I felt really valued at Deloitte as all the employees I talked to were really nice and they shared alot of information with us about the firm. They genuinely wanted us to have a good experience and apply for the Summer Vacation Scheme.
We received a lot of guidance during the insight especially when it came to the interviews and the application process for the Summer Vacation Scheme. We were given an opportunity to take part in a mock interview which was conducted by the actual interviewers of Deloitte, therefore we got alot hints and tips on how to improve our interview techniques. Most importantly they also explained to us how we could convert the insight into a Summer Vacation scheme.
I dont think we particularly learnt any skills that would help us in our degree but we were definitely given a lot of information about the industry and the different departments within Deloitte which would help me when I have to decide what departments to choose from in the future.
The Company
It was very well structured. We received all the programme outline on day one and every presentation was very clear and packed with a lot of information about Deloitte and the department.
The atmosphere was really good as we knew that we were not being assesed and also the fact that we did not have to have an interview at the end of the programme meant everyone was calm and enjoying themselves. We were also given an opportunity to take part in various business games and case studies which gave us a good overview of how the group tasks would be like during an assesment centre so everyone was engaged through out.
They really helped us out through out the programme. The most exciting part was that we had a mock interview at the end of the inight rather than a real interview which other firms do so we got a good understanding of the interview process. We were also able to take part in various business games with the Deloitte employees helping us out in the process.
It did help me understand a bit of what it would be like working for Deloitte as we got various presentations from the different departments but I felt that if we had an opportunity to work shadow one of the employees than it would have been more helpful. Nevertheless I think getting to know the employees gave me a good understanding of how it would be to have a full time role at Deloitte.
The insight really helped us undertsnad the working culture there as talking to employees really felt like that they enjoyed themselves and showed how much Deloitte invested in their people.
It was really helpful as there were presentations from various different departments and they made it clear what skills you were required to have in order to succeed in any of those jobs.
Everything Else
Yes we were reimbursed our expeneses but we also got a free nigh accomadation at a hotel nearby.
Throughout the two days we always had an opportunity to talk to employees. We even got to have dinner with some employees and this made it really easy to talk and get to know them better.
There was a networking dinner on the second day.
All the employees at Deloitte were encouraged to take part in various actvities outside the firm. From dragon boat racing to interdepartment football leagues we were told about various activities that Deloitte employees could take part in.
Its a really good experience and the best part is that you are not being assessed and neither is there an interview at the end bu instead they will help you get better at the interview process through the mock interviews.
