About You
There were fun activities which involved group participation and all of the employees I met and spoke to in the firm were very friendly and willing to answer any queries I had. I felt very welcome into Linklaters.
We receieved a lot of guidance from trainee solicitors in the firm as they were always as hand to talk to and answer any questions. The graduate recruitment team provided us with valuable information on a career at Linklaters and I feel I am very well informed about the firm and what it has to offer.
The information I received certainly helped me to understand the process of applying for a training contract at Linklaters. Although the work shadowing on the scheme was useful, I felt that I would have developed more skills if the placement was a few days longer.
The Company
There was a clear structure for the two days which was outlined to us at the start of the placement. However we were not told in advance which departments we had been allocated for the work shadowing. I felt that if we knew this in advance we could have prepared ourselves by researching the work undetaken by the departments.
The general atmosphere at Linklaters was very friendly and I was made to feel very welcome by everyone I met throughout the insight. The working environment at Linklaters appeared to be lively and enthusiastic.
We were provided with clear information on what it is like to a solicitor at Linklaters. We also heard from trainees with first hand experience in the firm and we were given many opportunities to ask questions.
Not only was the content of the two days helpful in the respect that we found out more about Linklaters as a firm, it was also very helpful in finding out about a career in commercial law in general. I now feel I am one step ahead of most other first year law students in that I know the career path I need to take to become a solicitor.
Everything Else
We were reimbursed travel expenses and breakfast and lunch was provided for the two days.
The social event on the first night involved a quiz and evening dinner in the auditorium. It was a very fun activitiy that got all of us participating.
A trainee at the firm took us on a tour of the office and she informed us of the social and sporting activities that were on offer outside of work.
The Pathfinder scheme is extremely useful as it is a rare opportunity for first year law students to experience life in an international law firm and to find out more about a career at Linklaters. I would fully recommend the scheme to anyone considering applying as Linklaters is very welcoming and the information gained on the scheme is invaluable to anyone considering a career at commercial law firm.
