The Role
Immediately made to feel welcome within the working environment, attended an organised volunteer day aswell as an office away day.
Although there wasn't a lot of work around due to my placement landing in a quieter time of year, I still had plenty of work to complete for various members of staff and felt that my contribution was genuinely appreciated.
The organisational structure was very clear, my manager discussed at the start of my placement the tasks I would be working on. If I needed any help on tasks. guidance was always given and time was taken to explain and discuss anything I wasn't too sure about.
I always had tasks to complete on client sites and in the office. Work wasn't rushed and there wasn't any pressure or serious time constraints I had to work to.
I was left to write up sections of the audit reports from my calculations on some audit sections with the guidance of previous years audit reports.
Several of my final year modules are Audit related, I found great familiarity in the financial statements that I came across and also had the opportunity to ask questions and now also have contacts for any help I need in my final year.
The Company
All members of staff were professional and relaxed at the same time, everybody was friendly and sociable. I took part in an organised volunteering day along with an office away day.
The whole internship was structured, a thorough two day induction was given at the start allowing me to meet other interns, meetings with my manager were arranged reguarly to check on my progress. More client visits and work could have perhaps been arranged for interns however I appreciate that it was a quiet time around the office.
Time and effort was spent by staff to ensure I understood concepts, online training was given for issues such as independence and ethics.

Company Parties/Events
Completed a partner interview and presentation and have been offered a graduate job with them. I could really see myself working for the firm in the future and it would be an amazing opportunity to pursue.
The Culture
There were 4 interns in my office, all friendly and of similar personalities which was positive and am staying in contact with them. The induction days also created an opportunity to meet interns across the region along with a volunteering day.
The area is relatively cheap compared to bigger cities.
Preston has a reasonable nightlife scene with a selection of clubs although not as thriving as cities such as Manchester. Preston isn't overpriced and caters for a variety of people's needs.
The office away day was held whilst we were on placement which was a pretty fun day. We were also invited on staff nights out and leaving dos.
