About You
The insight was incredibly stimulating and allowed us to focus on ourselves as the individuals we would be in the work place.
Despite the short length of time, the employees from the company made me feel like I could ask them many questions and express any concerns I might have
The ratio of Ernst and Young employees to students on the insight was very high meaning that we were all given a lot of personal guidance.
My degree is unrelated so the skills I developed will not be particularly applicable in that area, but as for future careers, I think I learnt some invaluable things about how to best conduct oneself to work efficiently both within a team, and as a leader.
The Company
Every moment was planned beautifully in a way that meant that in a short period of time, we could learn as much as possible.
The atmosphere was brilliant. There was a strong sense of ambition, but this was always in a friendly and inspiring way. We were given time to discover that many of us had similar outlooks.
I was amazed by how much the company invested in us. They bought in people from outside EY to enhance our training, and it was made clear that the training we received from them will be relevant wherever we work.
The insight was focussed mainly on yourself as a leader, although there was some time for asking current EY employees about life at EY and we also had a dinner at which a Partner gave a brief speech which was informative.
At the insight we met several EY employees who were able to describe the EY culture, however by nature of not being held in an EY office, gathering this understanding was a little more difficult.
It was incredibly valuable because we did mock tasks similar to the type of thing we might be doing at EY, and because I enjoyed this so much, I feel more focussed on my career path.
Everything Else
I was fully reimbursed for everything.
There were many opportunities to meet employees over meals and during coffee breaks. We were also given many contact details so that any future questions we have can be answered.
In the evenings we experienced a formal Partner dinner, a pub quiz and a drumming session.
I didn't ask very much about this, but the Academy itself showed that there are opportunities for employees to get involved with students.
I couldn't recommend it more. I learnt so much in a short space of time, and it made me really look forward to entering the world of work.
