The Role
It was a very rewarding professional placement and I was treated as an employee rather than a student. The range of work and experiences was excellent. The only down side was at points there was very little work.
I was treated as a normal member of the team, not an industrial student that would be leaving after a year.
Due to the nature of the role and my managers role I was left to figure out most problems for myself. We had very little one on one time together to talk about issues or problems.
Some days were very hectic where as some days there was literally nothing to do. The days when there was nothing were terrible.
I was given a large amount of responsibility including running legal tests and commissioning test rigs.
The skills gained will assist in my attitude to work in life and at university.
The Company
As it was a professional work space most of the time people were busy and working. However we did have fun every no and again. The wok shop was a much more enjoyable area.
Everything was seamless with the exception of getting my ID card registered to allow me into my particular building.
I was allowed to take any number of courses from excel training to driver training.
Company Parties/Events
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
Above 25 days holiday
To return as a graduate all I need to do is complete a technical presentation about my time here and be reviewed by my manager. once complete I will be offered a job.
The Culture
Due to the size of the business both in terms of physical space and man power, I tended to socialize with members of my department rather than other industrial placement students.
I was able to live at home and commute due to JLR's central location.
Average
socially there were activities to get involved with such as nights out or mountain biking.
