The Role
Enjoyable and a great life experience.
Hugely - you get out what you put in. I worked hard and was valued, but colleagues value you from the offset which is great for confidence.
Line manager was extremely helpful and someone I will keep in touch with. Other management encouraged you to spend time with them asking questions and giving you advice. The internship also requires that you meet so many of upper management across the bank so you can get a feel for the whole place, not just your department.
Very busy. Some particularly late nights and early morning towards the end of the internship, but this was by no means forced. If you wanted the work you could do it, but equally there were times when I had to say no and that was fine if not encouraged.
From conducting conference calls in the second week to presenting my project in the last 2 weeks to the whole department as something that could potentially be useful to everyone - I had plenty of responsibility.
Invaluable. Conducting phone calls, chairing meetings, writing notes, presenting, using business software, but mostly - building confidence.
The Company
Very lively team of people. Interesting and fun.
Well organised. Weekly events and socials organised, including a community day, dragon boat racing and a boat party.
Lots of time and money.
Company Parties/Events
Job offer.
The Culture
Either organised by HR or between interns there was something to do every week.
Pretty damn expensive to someone used to prices up north!
Weekday nights good to socialise after work. Always busy on a Thursday.
HR- and self-organised, London has plenty of things to do...if you get the time.
