About You
Finally began to understand what happens in an Actuarial Consultancy firm.
Everyone was super friendly, even stupid questions did not feel off limits.
In each simulation exercise, we had a member of staff with us to help us with anything we didn't understand and point us in the right direction when we needed it.
Really motivated in my studies and learned to approach and analyse problems from a new perspective. Great guidance in how to breakdown a problem when stuck.
The Company
All bases covered and many opportunities to ask further questions in every one of the sessions.
Very positive and exciting.
The presenters were very careful to give us a proper explanation of what their business did and how this helped the client, this is all we could hope for as interns.
Everyone we spoke to told us about their day to day experiences at the firm and how they had progressed since beginning there, this gave you a real sense of what being a TW employee is about.
I got a sense of a very friendly and flat culture, everyone seemed to be very happy with their role but this may be due to the type of people that work there; i.e. the people who are employed there have stayed because the TW culture is ideal for them. I'm not sure if this will be necessarily true for me.
Just made me more undecided. I was dead set on working as an equity research analyst at an investment bank but now I am reconsidering actuarial roles. I don't think I will ever know until I do a proper internship.
Everything Else
Expect to receive full reimbursement of travel costs.
Yep, the entire day really consisted of being exposed to the vast number of employees at the firm.
Good, but I would have liked more time to speak one-to-one to the presenters from each business arm.
Only very slightly; just told that some people play in cross-divisional sports teams.
Great thing to do if you want to know more about actuarial work, it has been the only event that truly demystified the sector for me.
