Spring Intern Review

Citi provided us with an in-depth insight into the different business areas within the bank. At 3 days long it was very intense and focussed around absorbing a lot of information and speaking to current employees.

Citi gave us great access to current employees, ranging from analysts all the way up to managing directors so certainly we felt valued. We also were given a 2 hour work shadowing session, although this somewhat lacked in structure, all the staff seemed happy to show us around.

We were given detailed schedules on the first morning so knew what to expect over the coming days, and all food, accommodation and travel to London was covered so I cannot fault the support we received.

Completely invaluable experience. Has offered me a far deeper insight into Investment Banking than is available from merely reading around the banks/subject. Has allowed me to focus in on which area of the bank suits me most.

I found the structure to be very good. Informative business presentations over the first two days, interlocked with excellent networking events and more informal trading games. My only fault would be regarding the work shadowing in which the Citi staff weren't entirely sure what to do with us.

Excellent atmosphere throughout, lots of enthusiasm from everyone involved which made it more enjoyable to be there. All staff seemed happy to take the time to talk to us which also helped put students at comfort.

In addition to business presentations, we were given case studies and corporate banking simulations, and the week ended with an interview and CV skills session, a how to read the FT clinic and and interview.

Business presentations were key in giving a general overview of banks activities, but it was the networking events that really allowed us to hear first-hand the experiences of current employees. Invaluable.

Certainly helped, especially from asking questions of current employees. Speaking to them allowed us to garner how Citi differed from other banks in terms of both culture and in activities. Something not readily available from just reading website.

Completely invaluable, has allowed me to confirm my interest in banking/finance, but also to really focus me in on which department of banking I want to go into. It has also helped me rule out areas I thought I may have been previously interested in.

For a 3 day insight, the access was unrivalled. Opportunities for networking were frequent, from informal networking over lunch to a dedicated speed-networking session. Made the experience infinitely more useful.

Excellent. Included questions after presentations for each business area within Citi, networking lunches, senior panel questioning, an informal evening networking event and a dedicated speed-networking event.

The whole experience was very much invaluable, and has allowed me to confirm my interest in pursuing finance as a career. Great general insight with access to current employees giving us real experience of what to expect from such a career.
