About You
Made to feel at ease and welcomed into the firm.
Given some challenging tasks requiring multiple transferable skills that I can take into a training contract in the future.
The Graduate Recruitment team and my supervisors were very involved from the start and provided support and guidance throughout.
Appreciating the expectations of a law firm is tough without having completed a placement. This two weeks has given me a firm base from which I can further develop skills during a training contract.
The Company
Spot on! Full clarity and visibility from the start. If I could change one thing it would be to have more time here, although I did opt for the two scheme!
Other vac schemers have been easy to get along with and the trainees, many of whom have been through the same process, made the experience very comfortable whilst still providing top tips and guidance throughout.
My supervisors were very hands on with skill development and made a few recommendations for me to consider going forwards.
Sitting in a mixture of departments demonstrated the variation that is available and the option that we have to truly find the seat in which we belong.
The constant exposure to the firm really cemented Mayer Brown's status as somewhere with an excellent collegiate atmosphere.
I have had extremely varied seat choices, allowing me to understand the needs and expectations to be had within contentious and non-contentious departments.
Everything Else
Competitively paid for a vacation scheme.
A bulging roster of social events, including bowling and a trip to Paris, ensured that we were constantly exposed to members of the firm of all levels.
Paris - enough said!
Information was available upon request, although it is not something that people have come forward with.
