About You
Fantastic experience - very well structured programme, lively office filled with very friendly and approachable people. Trainee "buddy" and supervisor system works very well, resulting in people being there to give you work and provide the appropriate feedback. Social events were fantastic - really added to my experience and appreciation of what the firm is really like/about
People were approachable and gave a high quality of work to vacation students - interesting and varied tasks - really contributed to me feeling valued throughout the scheme. The firm and HR spent alot of time with the vacation students and have obviously invested alot of time and effort organising the scheme - again contributed to me feeling valued.
I recieved as much guidance as required. Expected to use some initiative, demonstrate ability to pick up ideas quickly and contribute without too much assistance. However, people were more than willing to answer questions, explain tasks and were kind enough to take the time to go-over task completed and provide the appropriate feedback.
Time management, organisation, written, and communication skills used throughout the scheme very applicable in my degree studies and beyond.
The Company
Exceptionally well-structured. Great range of events, including enjoyable social events - bowling, dinners, drinks with trainees and fellow vacation student, and a very enjoyable trip to Paris! Good amount of time spent in departments, doing work and gaining the insight into the practice of the law All in all, good balance between social events and time spent in departments - great balance/structure
Very friendly, collegiate office. Trainees got on well with each other and were very friendly with vacation students. In the departments I spent time in it became apparent that people got on well with each other. Hard working, but very friendly atmosphere - very good balance.
Invested thoroughly.
Gained exposure to a range of tasks/activities that trainees would do.
I feel I gained a good insight into the firm's culture - friendly, hard working and entrepreneurial.
Very valuable - reconfirmed my desire to practice the law
Everything Else
Plenty of opportunities to meet other employees, trainees, associates, partners lunch with partners organised in the second week, trainees present at numerous social events, sat in depatments alongside associate or partners - great exposure
Really good opportunities to meet other employees during the time spent at the firm. Also met with and had a "networking" lunch with the students who are participating in the summer vacation scheme
5-a-side football...
Absolutely, thoroughly enjoyed my placement.
