About You
It gave me an excellent feel for the firm, and I met people from trainee level all the way up to partner. A well balanced fortnight.
My trainee 'buddy' was always on hand, and my supervisor was an associate who was happy to give me further details of the firm.
The 2 weeks were well structured, and the focus of it was not necessarily the work but to understand as much of the firm as possible. Part of the internship also requires you to go out and look for things to do if you are having a quiet day.
Excellent skills for my CV.
The Company
A broad variety of networking events, working time and socialising.
Trainees were positive and busy, and I spent most of my time with them.
I had an opportunity to participate in everything from trainee training to csr events, and felt very included in my time there.
We were more told about the work commitments required than actually experiencing late nights, but as long as you know what you're going into then they were very transparent.
A lovely firm.
It convinced me to accept a training contract with them.
Everything Else
£250 per week.
Within the department I was able to introduce myself as a vac schemer and everyone was very welcoming and happy to have me on board. Furthermore we had departmental talks done by partners who were more than happy to answer our questions and find out a bit more about us. On a few occasions I bumped into them afterwards and they would ask how everything was going. Very approachable.
The social events were excellent, but the only improvement I would add is that they were a bit too late in the placement. If both social events were in the first week, or first days of each week, I am sure everyone would have gotten on even better. I attended a cocktail making session in the first week, a dinner in the second week, and farewell drinks.
We had a CSR talk and I managed to take part in come CSR events.
Definitely, gave me a great insight to law and the department I was sitting in, as well as experiencing life in the city.
