About You
It was an ideal introduction to the financial sector and Citi as a business, acting as a real-life taste of what it's like to be part of the company.
Everyone was extremely warm and welcoming - from the HR team who organised the programme, to the employees of the firm I shadowed. Even the ladies working in the cafe were very pleasant!
I received as much guidance as I wanted: It is obviously desirable to be independent and confident on your own two feet, but if any concerns or help was needed, support was always on hand.
I haven't got back to University since completing the Spring Insight programme, however I definitely feel a lot of the skills I developed and information I received will be useful when studying my Business & Management degree at Durham.
The Company
The programme was structured fantastically well, so huge credit must go to the HR team. Our initial presentation was from a CEO of the company, which was incredible. It was a great week and everyone seemed enthusiastic and interested in our possible future careers at Citi.
The atmosphere was also great. There was a lot of fun involved, such as a bowling event in Brick Lane and numerous networking sessions! It was great to meet like minded people and weigh up some of the competition you will be against for summer internships and graduate jobs.
A lot of time was invested in me. CV and interview sessions were particularly helpful with the aim of aiding you in your application process to Citi in the future. The possibility to be fast-tracked to an Assessment Centre was also highly beneficial and something to strive to achieve from the week insight.
I gained a considerable insight into what it would be like to have a full time role through meeting numerous employees and asking them about their day to day life. Work shadowing also enabled me to get a feel of a regular day at work within the company.
I felt like I gained a good insight into the company culture, however it is hard to tell if I experienced the true culture or just one they wanted to portray to first year under-graduates.
It enhanced my knowledge of different business areas, and gave me the skills to help get through the assessment process at Citi. I also had the opportunity to meet and network with teams within CTS, CB, IBD, PB, CMO, RISK and S&T.
Everything Else
I was fully reimbursed my travel expenses.
There were HUGE opportunities to meet and network with employees throughout my time!
They were fantastic. There were vast opportunities to meet various people across all the different business divisions. The highlight of the week was going bowling with all 41 of the selected candidates and lots of senior members of the company.
I didn't find out a huge amount of information, but was told there were opportunities to get involved in rugby, football and golfing teams, both competitively and socially.
100%!!
