About You
Looking back, it was really worth the effort - gained so much from this experience and I am very thankful that I got the opportunity.
There was definitely enough staff on hand so that everyone felt that there was someone to speak to whenever we had a question. They were always very patient with answering questions.
As above, more than I could have hoped for. Clarified some queries I had about current issues in the industries as well as developed my understanding for Citi as an organisation.
This is not directly related to my course however it will definitely assist me in my ancillary course that I come to do next year.
The Company
Extremely logically, the events were organised very well so that we never had too much time "wandering" about.
I was pleasantly surprised at the mix of people on the insight and really had a lot of fun with everyone - this was an added bonus.
A lot, we were provided ample information on how to succeed in applying for summer internships as well as more general CV/employment advice which I found to be insightful.
It was difficult to not come away with a true feel for the firm as we had some much interaction with the staff that by the end I felt I had known a few for months!
I thoroughly enjoyed the culture there. I spoke with one analyst in sales who was so frank about the ups and downs of his role that I was actually shocked at his honesty. It made me value his direct attitude and was in stark contrast to the "standard" answers given by other firms I have encountered before.
Citi seems to be a great place to start a career in the financial services. On a general note, I feel better positioned to make a decision on my future career path.
Everything Else
(Travel) Expenses
Plenty of chances to speak with individuals in different divisions throughout the day. It allowed you to speak to people in the area of the firm you were most interested in.
Going back to the organisation of the event, the social side was also well put together. Especially surprising was the bowling event on one evening - perfect!
From speaking with several people about the work-life balance, Citi did a good job of managing this. Yet there were also stories of 48 hour shifts for an IBD intern...
Citi are in opinion a very personable investment bank that offers opportunities around the world. This is the perfect chance to learn more about how they operate.
