About You
There was a variety of work to complete, there were enough socials to get to know the other interns a bit, and generally it was an enjoyable week.
The staff were all friendly and happy to help or find work for you to do.
The staff were welcoming and were happy to help or support me when I had problems with any tasks.
I learnt a considerable amount about finance, being based in the Financial Servicse department, which will be useful in applying to any City job and may assist me in some finance-related modules in my Law course at university.
The Company
Simmons & Simmons organized the insight well, there were a range of presentations and social events as well as the normal working in departments.
The firm was friendly and welcoming. I enjoyed my time here, and I would do it again.
To some extent.
There were presentations about the different departments to give us a comprehensive understanding.
It depends on what department you were in, as each one has a different feel to it. But generally you met enough people to be given a general impression of the culture of the firm.
It didn't make me focus entirely on becoming a City solicitor, but actually made me think more widely and broadly about what I might do after University.
Everything Else
I was paid a good amount for the week.
There was ample opportunity to meet other employees at the firm, and it was useful.
The socials were good. You met a lot of people, there was free food and drink, and no-one wanted to leave early!
Yes. One told me about how he learns the piano in his lunch hour!
I think this is a very good insight for anyone considering law as a career area.
