The Role
Very relevant to my degree and I was able to apply the knowledge that I had learnt from my degree to the project that I was working on. It broadened my horizons and has allowed me to consider the defence industry as a career option.
I believe that they appreciated my engineering background and knowledge. On some occasions, the employees would come to me and ask about problems that they have encountered which was very rewarding.
Some times the mnagaement left me for a few days on my own to complete the project. Allthough this did initially show that they had trust in me, it wasnt the bst situation when I needed to ask questions. Also, they buddy that I was assigned was always out of the office so didnt really get a chnace to speak to her.
As i expected I was always on my feet running around. thankfully it was a lot more than making cups of tea for the management (although this did happen on a few occasions!) I had weekly reports to write which usually took 2-3 days to complete.
In the overall project I was only assigned a small part of it, althouhg I would have appreciated a much bigger role. But the project that I was assigned I felt was giving enough responsibility to an intern.
I have learnt new engineering concepts and skills which I can apply to any future career that I choose, as well my final year of university. I also managed to improve my communication and critical thinking skills.
The Company
On occasions it did fel as thouhg people were a bit too busy to give you any attention, although on the whole the majority of people were pleasnat and eays to get along with.
Althouhg I was assigned my project on the first day, I did feel as thouhg a lot of the work I was doing was a result of my own initiative by digging out work for myself.
I believe it was the same amount as the other interns but I still appreciate the amount of money and time invested in me as well as the ability to use very expensive equipment!
Flexi Time
National Travel
Healthcare from home
I will be applying but its a very competitive industry ot be in, and I didnt get the job offer at the end!
The Culture
Very rarely went out although the few occasions that we did go out was when I arranged it!
As expected London is an expensive place to live so you have to be very craeful with your finances.
I dont really go out much but London does have everything you ould want in terms of nightlife!
I only managed to join one society which wasnt very active at all. I think that the staff didnt socialise wth each other outside of th work environment.
