Bank employee Review

It was a great insight into the workings of the bank with appropriate and well thought out talks and exercises that made for a very informative and worth while week.

Everyone I met was very happy to give advice and answer any questions that I had.

The hosts were very helpful at making sure it was clear what was asked of us and were always available if clarification was required.

We really did learn skills for life and an opportunity like this is invaluable and will really helpful during future interview processes.

There was a good variety of activities organised for us however, there were slightly too many non-interactive talks that could have been more involved and this would have allowed greater engagement and more to be taken from them.

There was a very friendly atmosphere throughout the week and I felt a real sense that everyone involved was really interested in the students and keen to help as much as possible.

There were many opportunities for me to improve my presenting and speaking skills and I am very grateful for this as it will help me hugely in my future career. I was really impressed with how much the firm was willing to invest in me and am very grateful.

More shadowing would have given me a better insight but within the one week timeline I realise that this wasn't necessarily possible.

Many employees came to the networking events and this made it very easy to gain an insight in to the company culture. Also talks from particular groups within the firm displayed the inclusive culture of the firm where employees are all valued equally.

The content of the week allowed me to decide on a potential career path as it made me realise my strengths and where my main interests lie within the financial industry.

I was given accommodation and my travel expenses were reimbursed.

There were many opportunities during breaks and at the dinner at the end of the week. These were both formal and informal events that allowed every opportunity to find out about what it is like to work within this firm and what specific day-to-day jobs entail.

It was slightly difficult to make sure that you could talk to as many people as possible but without cutting people off, maybe more of a 'speed-networking' scenario would have allowed more information to be gained in the short periods of time.

We were told about groups for all different interests from sports clubs to culture clubs, as well as facilities such as the gym on sight that employees can make use of.

I would definitely recommend this insight week. I feel I have gained many life skills and a lot of information and tips for the forthcoming interviews that will be invaluable to me.
