The Role
The people who looked after me got me settled in quickly, gave me a high level of responsibility and challenges while also being considerate and inclusive within social activities.
Good feedback on my performance was given and there was a real 'team' atmosphere that made you want to put real effort into the work.
My mentor and manager were always on hand checking I was well supplied with work and progressing with it. Had some great discussions on the industry in general which was very insightful.
After being introduced to the whole office, work came in steadily and when things almost dried up I only had to ask around a few people to find more to do.
I was suprised that I was actually taken to client meetings for notetaking etc. on some pretty important meetings! The day to day work was challenging and they even let me produce a column on international tax which was circulated around the whole company.
It definately improved my general business skills and accumin e.g. how I handled and prioritised my time but my degree is not so related to accountancy so the benefit back at university is not as evident as I have seen for others.
The Company
Good chat at certain times and we all went to lunch together which was a nice touch. There was a good working mentality though and everyone was pretty busy so the balance was good.
Well thought out experience and good blend of work/social atmosphere. It actually did give me a good feel for what it would be like to work there full time.
I recieved quite in depth training on tax accounting and also the software and practices used within the office.
Subsidised Canteen
Sports and Social Club
Company Parties/Events
Above 25 days holiday
They were very transparent on how the job offer would come about and gave me all the support and help to get it.
The Culture
There were only a few of us in the area and the budget for going out had been cut due to the economic climate but they made the most of what they had an it was good fun.
It was London so very expensive compared to further afield but the salary reflected that.
Loads of bars and clubs.
I did a CSR day and played football in my departments team.
