The Role
I don't think I would want to work at another firm! Ernst and Young did an amazing job at always coaching me about the firm and professional services section, whilst the people always gave me their time if I needed it. I'm extremely glad I choose Ernst and Young and look forward to working for them in the future.
My colleagues would always give me work which mattered and had a deadline for. They were extremely friendly and always asked me if I needed help. I knew exactly were my work was going to be used and I knew the work I carried out would progress the audit faster.
I couldn't have asked for more! If I ever required any help, there was always someone there to help me out. A lot of focus is given to support at Ernst and Young. I never felt isolated.
The work load was in perfect balance. If I didn't have enough work to do, there was always real work I could do and if I had too much work, then I could easily let someone know. But to be honest, there was never too much work, I always managed to complete the work on time and some of the time, before the expected completion time!
I did not feel like an intern at all! Some clients didn't even know I was an intern, I still don't think they know I was an intern! I was doing real Audit work from day 1 and was treated like a graduate.
The 6 week internship was a huge learning curve for me. I hadn't done any auditing or accountancy work before, so everything was new for me. After the 6 week intern, I have a comfortable grasp of the world of accountancy and better understand what a professional services does.
The Company
Good times! Donut days were the best!
Well organised. Very professional. Everything was on time.
I believe it was more of me gaining from the company than the other way round. I felt Ernst and Young provided us with everything we needed to gain a sound understanding of what a professional services company does.
