About You
I really enjoyed the week at Savills. I've learned so many different things that you can't really learn in a lecture theatre or from a textbook.
Everyone was extremely friendly and patient. However, sometimes I was worried that I was getting in the way of employees as they were incredibly busy and I sometimes had to ask for help.
Support was offered throughout, from everyone I met during the week. I was encouraged to ask questions and seek help if I didn't truly understand something I was working on.
As previously mentioned, I learned skills that can't be taken from a lecture or assignment. Experiencing the industry has helped me to understand what kind of job I could possibly have in the future. The departmental overviews helped give a overview of different issues that will help with my work at university.
The Company
The week was structured really well. It was organised and gave us the opportunity to do lots of different tasks and meet lots of people.
The atmosphere was extremely fun and friendly. I thought there was a good work/fun balance.
We were each assigned a mentor for the duration of the insight and spent time with them to learn new things about the profession.
We were each placed in a different department across the company and worked within our selected team for the duration. Seeing the same employees everyday helped to understand the variety of work they do and how they go about it.
As I only worked in one department, there wasn't really an opportunity to look at the company as a whole.
The content of the day was extremely helpful as it was so varied.
Everything Else
We were reimbursed up to the value of £150.
Yes, we were encouraged to approach others in the office. In addition, we had several drinks organised for us and had many lunches with different employees of the company.
They were really enjoyable however, sometimes they were so noisy, it was difficult to hear what anyone was saying.
There seemed to be lots of sporting events and teams. There were also lots of networking events at local bars.
I thoroughly enjoyed the programme and would recommend it to anyone that wants to work in the property industry.
