About You
I enjoyed it very much. My first full experience in a large City law firm, and what fantastic offices in which to experience it! There was a huge amount of variety on offer throughout the week, which ensured the insight remained interesting and stimulating. The people attending/employees I met were great too!
We were shown a lot of attention. Clifford Chance clearly invested a lot of time and money into the programme-we had great food, networking events, and presentations from very senior employees.
We received as much support as necessary. Everyone was willing to help, answer questions and provide advice when needed.
I developed confidence, networking, negotiating and team-working skills. I also gained a strong insight into the workings of a magic circle law firm, and the flexibility of thought/researching skills etc required. This will help with my study as we regularly need these skills for presentations and team-based work, whilst also providing focus with regards to future module choices.
The Company
It was incredibly well structured. Everything ran on time, exercises were varied and in a good order that kept us engaged. Events were not too long and were very relevant.
Everyone selected to take part in the insight was ambitious, friendly, good fun and intelligent. We had similar interests, motivations and ambitions concerning a career in law. This created an atmosphere conducive to productivity and we all made good friends. Graduate recruitment were very friendly, as were other CC employees which also contributed to the positivity.
Many senior figures gave us presentations/supervised and judged pitches and presentations. We had skills sessions and engaged in various interactive case studies which really helped with interview preparation for full vacation schemes.
We were provided the opportunity to shadow trainees across various areas-this provided an insight into the type of projects trainees work on. We were also provided an introduction to capital markets wihch was incredibly interesting and shed greater light on the potential world of a commercial lawyer.
Experiencing the offices whilst shadowing; meeting numerous graduate recruitment members/lawyers at various networking events provided a good understanding.
I was exposed to enough of the type of work undertaken in different CC divisions to help inform my decision concerning my future career path. It was thus very useful.
Everything Else
Reimbursed all expenses.
We had many networking opportunities. Dinners with other interns/graduate recruitment; drinks events with trainees/associates and managers; and work shadowing with many different employees.
Great. The view from the top of the CC building in Canary Wharf is incredible...once tea and cakes were added, the events were great! A few months after the workshop, CC took us out in London for a Christmas dinner too!
I believe there are many opportunities but we did not explore these in detail.
Great opportunity to experience a top firm, meet the employees, receive exposure to the work, get accustomed to the offices, and inform career decisions.
