About You
Very beneficial gaining an overview of Investment Banking - regarding the back office work of Operationsand just gaining an idea of the mentality at Citi.
They respected my input and the staff were willing to spend a lot of their valuable time with you.
Guidance regarding future applications/CV was excellent, and they certainly helped to guide you on what career might be suitable on a personal basis.
I learnt a large about Operations, and highlighted that it would not be the specific area that I would like to move into. I also developed teamworking and communication skills significantly as in small teams we delivered a presentation to senior management.
The Company
Excellent - clear itinerary which was adhered to, and was generally varied.
Very positive - it really did give a glimpse of working in the Citi environment.
They invested large amounts of time regarding our skillset, particularly in regards to team-working on one of the days they brought in external experts.
We were placed with a large number of areas in Operations - FX,options, Equities, etc and this was really beneficial in detailing the work involved.
We were given a powerpoint regarding the ethics of the firm, and these values were generally exemplified by the employees who were very helpful.
Excellent - did confirm my aim to move into investment banking, and especially in London. Operations isn't quite for me...
Everything Else
Reimbursement of expenses was not offered which was slightly disappointing, but we were all more than grateful to be accepted in the first place.
Every lunchtime we had opportunities to network with staff - including placement students who we could relate to especially well.
Over lunctime as explained above. This was really helpful in builidng a range of contacts which will provide invaluable in the future.
We had a talk one day detailing some of these activities - company BBQ, football teams, GAA teams, Tag rugby, etc.
Extremely beneficial in providing information on the area of Operations; working in an investment bank like Citi and just obtaining a wide range of contacts through networking.
