    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • I had a really great few days at Linklaters

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • I felt welcome and definitely not a nuisance/ in the way, everyone at the firm was happy to talk to you and answer questions/ help you out. There was a definite feeling that they were pleased to have us even though they were all clearly very busy with their own work.

    4/5

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • There were plenty of people to answer questions about life in the firm and also guidance given on future applications and interviews.

    4/5

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I think the most valuable thing, rather than developing skills (as it was such a short programme with limited actual involvement in the work of the firm), was seeing Linklaters and its employees in action and being able to get a better feel of what life is like in a commercial law firm.

    3/5

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • Excellent.

    5/5

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • Time was used efficiently and constructively, we were always busy and the balance between listening to talks and shadowing of lawyers was very well done.

    5/5

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The greatest investment was individual Linklaters lawyers time, they gave us one-on-one time with lawyers in 2 different departments for half a day to observe their work. We also had workshops for our future applications and 'personal branding'- basically how best to behave in an interview- body language etc.

    4/5

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • Although it was a short insight, the time spent with lawyers and talking to current trainees gave me a better idea of what could be expected from life in the firm. However, a longer scheme would give you a clearer picture of how it actually is, as we only saw 1 day of real life really.

    4/5

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • It was a lively, forward-thinking and dynamic law firm, with inter-relation between departments and a friendly atmosphere.

    5/5

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • It has definitely encouraged me to follow the commercial law path further

    5/5

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • I got the opportunity to talk to lots of different people

    5/5

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • Informal chats over lunch, one-on-one time with lawyers, and social opportunities (eg a quiz in the evening, team building games etc) with other students on the scheme which I really enjoyed. Meeting people on the scheme from other universities was great.

    4/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • We heard about sports teams/ training and saw facilities like the gym, and about travel opportunities (although these are connected to work).

    4/5

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • Overall a really positive experience!

    5/5
